Abstract:
Compounds of boron, silicon, phosphorus, and some of the other Group III and IV elements, as well as transition metals have investigated by various thermochemical and spectroscopic methods in order to derive basic parameters such as standard heats of formation and molecular orbital binding energies. Experimental methods have relied on calorimetry, computer analysis of thermochemical data, mass spectrometry, u.v. and X-ray excitation-photoelectron, nuclear magnetic resonance, electron spin resonance, and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Results have been analyzed by molecular orbital theory.
