Abstract:

Eighty newly imported rhesus monkeys were divided into four groups. Seven showed a measles antibody titer on arrival, 17 were treated with monkey serum containing antimeasles antibody, 18 were vaccinated for measles and 33 served as untreated controls. Medical treatment requirements were significantly p less than 0.05 less in the previously immune and serum-treated groups than in the remaining groups. There were no deaths in the previously immune group the lowest number of deaths occurred in the serum-treated group 11.7, and increased through the vaccinated 22.2 and control groups 30.3.
