Abstract:
There is a progressive increase in antibody affinity with time after immunization. Agents adjuvants which increase the magnitude of the immune response favor selection for high affinity antibody synthesis. Agents such as antigenic competition, cyclophosphamide, 6-mercaptopurine and anti-lymphocyte antiserum which nonspecifically depress the magnitude of the immune response tend to make selection for high affinity antibody synthesis proceed more slowly.
