Nonsteady, interfering, transonic flows are of increasing importance to aeroelasticians. Recent design concepts for transonic transports, high maneuverability fighters, biplanar space shuttle configurations, and so called transonic axial flow compressors, to name a few, involve such flows when aeroelastic problems are considered. It is apparent that the question of the effect of transonic flow, including possible adjacent flow field interference, on flutter must be confronted in a practical way.
