Abstract:
The report summarizes the basic theory behind the cavity approach. First, theoretical aspects of formulating the scatter problem into matrix equations are reviewed. Then a simplified explanation regarding determination of the unknown matrix coefficients from sets of scatter field data is given. The basic theory involved in obtaining scatter field data by use of a cavity method is then outlined. And finally, some results of the experiments conducted to verify the approach are discussed, including an example of the determination of the admittance matrix of a spherical test scatterer. The possibility using a cavity method to determine radiation characteristics is also described.
