The characteristics of young age 25 and younger and old age 26 and older alcoholic groups treated at Navy Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers and Units were compared, and predictive studies of post-treatment success were conducted. Variables related to success were identified, and prediction equations were derived for the two groups. Pay grade and prognostic rating by treatment staff were the most important predictors for both groups, and a number of other biographical and clinical variables were found to be relevant for assessing prognosis.
