Abstract:
During World War II though more than one-fourth of 38,000 navymen have developed clinical symptoms after being exposed to filariasis in the endemic areas of South Pacific, no transmission of filariasis has been demonstrated from the highly infected Kinmen Chinese to the young Chinese troops even though they were stationed there for a period of 1-2 years. The present study was performed from 1970 to 1974. The results obtained on Kinmen Islands included before, during and after filariasis control by combined method of chemotherapy and larvicide and common salt medicated with diethylcarbamazine DEC. The data is tabulated in 11 Tables, and 11 maps and summarized.
