A program was undertaken to design, fabricate, and test a prototype microwave Surface Acoustic Wave SAW IMCON which is a wide-band dispersive delay line suitable for pulse compression and micro-scan receiver applications. Described in the report are the analyses and practical constraints which determined the design of the IMCON Grating, Grating Mode Converter, ZnO Transducers, and MaterialOrientation. Fabrication details are discussed for the Substrates, Fixturing, Photolithography, Sputter Etching, ZnO Sputtering, and Packaging. Experiment results are presented for Grating Mode Converters operating at 30MHz, a SAW-IMCON operating at 60MHz, and the 1000MHz SAW-IMCON.
