Abstract:

The objective of the study is to maintain or improve the previous performance characteristics while reducing package size from 6.5 to 2.0 cubic inches. Studies pertinent to the practicality of volume production and use in tactical equipments are to be conducted, including thermally induced hysteresis, thermal transient behavior, frequency aging, and methods of reducing compensation cost. The report describes progress achieved in the second 6-month period, including results of retrace tests on crystals and capacitors, performance of thin-film circuits, and overall packaging. Model construction was delayed by a load isolation problem in the oscillatoramplifier thin film. One model has been compensated using a constant load, however, and transient and warmup tests will be completed in the next period.
