The electrical conductivities of discontinuous iron films deposited upon quartz and sodium chloride substrates under ultra-high vacuum have been measured. The influence of chemisorbed hydrogen and oxygen on the conductivity of these films has also been determined. The surface and interfacial energies of nickel and copper as a function of very low partial pressures of oxygen have been measured.
