The report is the final report based on a contract to Office of Naval Research. In large part it is a summary of the several studies that have been carried out under the provisions of this contract. All of these studies have involved the use of a structured job analysis procedure called the Position Analysis Questionnaire PAQ. This job analysis instrument consists of 187 job elements organized into six divisions. In the analysis of a job with the PAQ the relevance of the individual elements to the job are rated using any of several rating scales such as importance, or time.
