Abstract:

The Sort-Merge module provides the capability to order one or more files of records, or to combine two or more identically ordered file of records, according to a set of user defined keys contained within each record. Additionally the Sort-Merge Module permits the user to apply special processing to individual records by input or output procedures. This processing may be applied before andor after the records are sorted or after the records have been combined by the merging process. The tests for this module, for the most part, are of the nature of being able to internally check to determine whether each test passed or failed. However, due the Sort-Merge level 1 restrictions, there are some programs that produce no executive report but pass data to another program for checking the test results.
