The major portion of the work was devoted to the development of numerical techniques for the quantitative prediction of high temperature breakdown thresholds in re-entry environments when fringing field effects must be considered. Significant results of this work included the development of a rapid numerical technique for the computation of antenna fringing fields in the electrostatic approximation and the development of a two-dimensional computer code for microwave breakdown predictions in the antenna fringing field in the presence of a high temperature boundary layer.
