A one-dimensional analysis of pressure and velocity-coupled driving of a standing wave is presented. In the model it is assumed that each incremental propellant surface area is a possible source of combustion driven wavelets. The wavelets are separated into components in phase or 90 degrees out-of-phase with the standing wave and the driving obtained by summing up the in-phase response over the complete burning surface.
