After approximately thirteen years of continuous operation since its initial installation and calibration, the Canadian 100,000-lb. standard deadweight machine was disassembled for reverification of the forces exerted by its suspended masses. The machine is briefly described and the principles of force determination examined. A section outlines the use of the observed data, including a statistical analysis to demonstrate control of the balance operations, and an examination of sensitive areas such as temperature differential effects, buoyancy effects due to mixed material densities, and observation of gradual deterioration of balance sensitivity. Final development indicated total uncertainties of the order of four parts per million associated with the listed forces.
