Abstract:
The basic principles of operation of radioisotope current sources for various purposes are summarized. Structural diagrams of contemporary radioisotope thermoelectric generators are surveyed. Methods of obtaining radioisotope sources of thermal energy are described and their physical and radiation characteristics given. Problems of radiation safety during work with radioisotope thermoelectric generators are reviewed.
