Abstract:

The detonation method of applying coatings is similar to the gas-flame and plasma-arc methods, and consists of the melting of the coating material and its acceleration and transfer to the surface of the piece being coated with gases from the explosion of a gas-oxygen mixture. This study attempts to experimentally determine the extent of the relative contribution of kinetic and thermal energy of the sprayed particles to the formation of a bond between the coating and the surface. The authors studied the effect of spraying technology on the adhesion strength, the degree of heating and the speed of the sprayed particles.
