The purpose of the SERVANT program is to show aerothermodynamic feasibility of the concept. This has been done through the use of analytical calculations together with results of wind tunnel tests to determine the test model flow field uniformity as affected by the parent nose tip geometry, vehicle freestream conditions, and angle of attack the interaction heating effects on the submodel and support structure aerodynamic stability as affected by both parent and submodel ablated shapes and freestream conditions and provide flight dynamic performance for the SERVANT configuration including angle of attack envelopes, the effects of test model asymmetries on SERVANT roll behavior and the effects of test nose tip failures.
