The program of this grant period has been directed to research, independent and collaborative in the application of low energy x-ray and electron physics to the following areas 1 surface state, molecular and solid state analysis by ultrasoft x-ray spectroscopy 2 development of methods for quantitative photoelectron spectroscopic analysis for surface structure and chemistry and 3 the development of techniques for high temperature plasma diagnostics by low energy x-ray spectroscopy.
