Studies of epitaxial systems were continued with the deposition of silicon on the beryllium 0001 surface and of silicon on the molybdenum 001 surface. The atomic arrangements on clean silver 0001 and clean molybdenum 001 surfaces were unveiled. The methods for determination of the vibration amplitudes of surface atoms were successfully tested with a computer experiment and then applied to the clean 001 surface of silicon. The structure of one monolayer of selenium on silver 001 and that of a monolayer of silicon on molybdenum 001 were determined. The structures of overlayers of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon monoxide on the molybdenum 001 surface are presently being studied. Modified author abstract
