Abstract:
In experiments on nonstationary plasma acceleration it was established that under certain conditions behind the current front turbulent processes develop which lead to high-frequency oscillations, anomalous plasma resistance, and the appearance of fast particles whose energy greatly exceeds the applied potential difference. The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the current instabilities which develop when a plasma is accelerated.
