The results of a program to obtain trace gas analyses of air samples collected in the 40,000 to 65,000 feet range using a new mechanical cryogenic whole air sampler flown on an RB57 aircraft are described. To accomplish the program goals, a standard laboratory mechanical cryostat was suitably modified to permit operation and sample acquisition at high altitudes. Typically between 0.5-4.0 liters of N.T.P. air were collected. A total of nine sampling flights were made. Chemical analyses for CH4, C2H4, CO2, CO, N2O and H2 were made using chromatographic techniques. Modified author abstract
