Abstract:

The properties of best rational approximations to e sup-x on the interval 0 or x infinity have important applications to numerical techniques for solving certain heat-conduction problems. In this paper, the rational functions Rm,nz known as Pade approximants to e sup -z are investigated from the point of view of error estimates and uniform convergence on 2-dimensional unbounded sets.
