The histaminopexic index HPI, neutrophil lesion reaction NLR and cutaneous-allergic tests with allergens of the strepto-staphylococcal groups have been studied in 38 patients mainly children with neurorheumatism. In 27 patients HPI was significantly lower as compared with values in healthy persons. Complex treatment including corticosteroids resulted in a distinct increase of HPI. Initial severe stages of rheumatism were characterized by a dissociation of NLR and cutaneous-allergic test data. Even following treatment and improvement the percent of neutrophil lesion never reached normal values. Results indicate participation of allergy in the pathogenesis of neurorheumatism and the value of the above tests in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
