Abstract:

A converter unit with a thyristor on-off switch and electronic shielding is described. Performance curves and a wiring diagram are presented. The unit permits a reduction in the number of gates and in dimensions, has a sensitivity of about 0.3 of the rated trigger current and a speed of action of 1-2 msec, considerable improvement over existing systems. The system is operating in the traction circuits of the Leningrad Subway System.
