Significant prospects in research on the pathology of schizophrenia are revealed in connection with the use of autoimmune reactions in clinical practice. Important to this problem is the question concerning the presence of autoantibodies in the blood of patients with schizophrenia. It is necessary to perform the work with respect to the determination of such autoantibodies, the establishment of their connection with the features of the course of the schizophrenic process, and the role in the pathogenesis of the disorder. The authors studied indicators of nonspecific immunity the complementary function of the blood, the phagocytotic activity of the leucocytes, the level of properdin, bactericide capability of the blood, and indicators of the autoimmune process the Coombs reaction for revealing antierythrocytic autoantibodies, and also the state of sensitivity of the organism to allergens from a culture of intestinal bacillus and enterococcus using skin samples. In one and the same patient, as a rule, several immunological indicators were determined.
