Abstract:
Children of military service members are at greater risk for a variety of health and mental health conditions than their civilian counterparts. While studies have examined the health disparities faced by these military children, few have sought to explore the type and quality of treatment these children receive once they have received a mental health diagnosis. Popular approaches in treating various mental health disorders can include supportive therapy, evidence-based therapies, and psychopharmacology, in addition to other less frequently used treatments e.g., dance or movement therapy, art therapy, hypnotism.
