Abstract:

In August 1986, the Department of Defense DOD released its Defense Financial and Investment Review DFAIR report, which recommendedchanges in DODS policies concerning contractors profits. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, requested that GAO evaluate the adequacy of the report, the validity of its findings, and the appropriateness of its recommendations. GAO also received a similar request from the Chairman, House Committee on Government Operations.
