The objective of the collaborative research is to increase the temperature capability of standard mechanical test equipment. Three classes of materials were examined under this collaboration polymer matrix composites PMCs, metals, and ceramic materials CMCs. Accessory packages to facilitate these high temperature testing applications were designed and constructed by MTS Systems Corporation MTS and tested at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Structural Materials Division AFRLRXC. The temperature goals for these three systems were 425 deg C for PMCs, 1200 deg C for metallic materials, and 1500 deg C for ceramic matrix composites. This report covers the CMC testing.
