Abstract:

Lung cancer accounts for more cancer-related mortality than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined, and greater than half of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. Both the National Lung Screening Trial NLST and Nederlands-Leuvens Longkanker Screenings ONderzoek NELSONtrial have demonstrated that low dose CT screening LDCT reduces mortality in high-risk patients. Implementation of LDCT screening has however been challenging.
