Abstract:

The report details outlines methods and results of those methods towards advancing autonomous landing of an UAV on a shipboard. Landing on a stationary platform in laboratory environment is consistently demonstrated. Landing on a dynamic platform is currently undergoing flight testing, with preliminary results shown. To tackle gusts or changing vehicle dynamics in the wake of the ship, adaptive and reinforcement learning controls are explored in simulations with promising results.
