Abstract:

This research aims to improve the C-130J pilot development process by reducing variance. After quantitatively identifying variances, qualitative data was collected to identify the causal factors. This study recommends employing the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to the current processes. The results provide the community with three critical findings 1. Highlighted that variances are occurring in upgrade training 2. Based on statistical results, the research generated minimum flight hours in the 11 categories, and 3. Proposes a process improvement methodology that could be implemented within the C-130J community and more importantly, in any upgrade training where people advance into higher echelons of a business
