The ballistic performance of magnesium Mg alloy WE43C was assessed against armor-piercing and fragment-simulating projectiles. V50 ballistic protection limits were determined for various thicknesses of material ranging from 0.25 to 2.94 inches. These results were used to determine new ballistic acceptance tables in MIL-DTL-32333A for WE43C, which was added as a new class of applique armor alongside Mg alloy AZ31B. Compared to AZ31B, WE43C exhibits higher ballistic performance but with a moderate increase in spall. Individual shot records and select postshot photos of WE43C are included in this report.
