The PI studied In the first part, I Synthetic snapping structures inspired by the Venus flytrap leaf, II Biological, multistable mechanism underlying snapping of the earwig wing. In the second part, I further Biological, multistable mechanism underlying snapping of the earwig wing and II the possibilities for sensing through changes of stable state in microstructured bistable composites, which resulted in biologically-inpired mechanosensing. The grant was successful, but no formal final technical report was obtained, though progress summaries were submitted.
