Abstract:

Our overall hypothesis is that the controlled preservation at subnormothermic and not freezing temperatures and the continuous perfusion with oxygen and essential nutrients of vascularized composite allotransplantation VCA over 24 hours using a proprietary patented Machine Perfusion MP based hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier HBOC solutionHemopure trademark after procurement will minimize IRI and allow a graft milieu conducive with improved immunologic, neurofunctional and graft survival outcomes. This project aims to extend the initial and successful experience in delivering oxygen ex-vivo to tissues safely and effectively during extended preservation through the use of a new Hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrier HBOC.
