Abstract:

In February 2017, the Secretary of the Army requested the Army Science Board ASB conduct a study entitled Multi-Domain Battle MDB. The Commanding General CG, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC, was identified as the study sponsor. Objectives laid out by the Secretary included Assessing how expanding and re-balancing the Armys focus on Air Land Battle to fighting more effectively in all five Department of Defense DoD-recognized military warfighting domains land, air, sea maritime, space, and cyberspace, as well as operational environments such as the electromagnetic spectrum and cognitive could significantly enhance tactical, operational, and strategic outcomes. Assessing potential combat efficiencies and synergies gained by better leveraging, synchronizing, and integrating joint, interorganizational, and multinational JIM capabilities across all present and future domains.
