The energetic and toxicological Properties of carbohydrazide CBZ and 1-Ethan-2-ol-4-amonio-1,2,4-triazolium nitrate HEATN have been assessed as potential replacements for propellants in current use, hydrazine. This study evaluated the aquatic toxicity of CBZ and HEATN with the Microtox Acute Toxicity Test system, a bioluminescent bacterial aquatic toxicity test. Data from this study are used to assist in making environment and health-based decisions regarding the design and selection of formulas and materials for further development of new munition compounds.
