During year one, compilation of the International Registry of Hand and Composite Tissue Transplantation IRHCTT and psychosocial surveys was performed. Focus group interviews of transplant recipients, social support and experts in the field were completed an transcribed. During year two, data analysis from the IRHCTT and psychosocial surveys determined 5 factors were associated with transplant outcomes and perceived success. The factors were tested in a vignette survey distributed to 100 participants. Preliminary analysis determines that increased number of factors leads to worse perceived success. Two papers are underway demonstrating these findings. Qualitative thematic analysis was performed for the focus group interviews with several themes being associated with perceived success. A paper has been submitted demonstrating these findings. Additionally, a mirroring qualitative focus group study at UCLA is underway and a subaward has been approved for similar work in Innsbruck, Austria.
