Abstract:

In collaboration with Hampton University, a 6-week Summer Prostate Cancer Research Internship was advertised to junior and senior level college students. Of the five students interviewed, one student was chosen for the internship. This student undertook a systematic review of the publicly available literature on quality of life after surgical resection in comparison to radiotherapy. Once the student had a firm understanding of the available literature in the field, he conducted a thematic analysis of transcripts from interviews with cancer patients discussing their quality of life.
