This final technical report summarizes activity on AFRL 6.1 laboratory task LRIR 15RQCOR102 for the last fiscal year of this activity, 2019. During this year, the transition zone length on the HIFiRE-5b flight was assessed and high-fidelity simulation of transition induced by discrete roughness in the presence of noise was executed. Results for HIFiRE-5b showed that the transition zone length was relatively short, generally less than the fully laminar length preceding transition. Transitional heating overshoot was observed on some parts of the vehicle. High-fidelity simulations of the HIFiRE cone were able to reproduce transition trends due to roughness and wind tunnel noise that were observed in ground test.
