This is a presentation of the initial tests conducted by the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center NFESC, Port Hueneme, California, involving the use of wire bridles to end connect Navy Lightered NL causeways. Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE, Coronado, California provided the assets necessary to demonstrate conventional equipment and methods used in such marriages. Modifications to the rigging arrangement and procedure resulted in safer, quicker, and more controllable connections. Hardware and operational improvements are suggested for inclusion in subsequent tests that are intended to improved the use of existing equipment as well as provide criteria for next generation higher sea state systems. The funding is provided by the Office of Naval Research under Replenishment Project RM33F61 of the Navy Exploratory Development Program LH2A - Facilities and Material, as well through the Sealift Support Program directed by the Civil Engineering Support Office CESO and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command NAVEAC.
