Abstract:

Chronic neural recordings within the 4T1 mouse tumor model have identified two distinct days where there is high neural activity during the growth of the tumor. The first day occurs approximately 4 days before metastasis and the second day occurs primarily on the day of metastasis. Furthermore, preliminary data in vagotomized mice with 4T1 tumors n2, all recorded neural activity within the tumor is eliminated and metastasis occurs approximately six days earlier compared to mice with intact vagus nerves. Additional experiments are ongoing to substantiate this result.
