Abstract:

This report is the fourth part of the study published under the common umbrella The Gibbs Variational Method in Thermodynamics of Equilibrium Plasma. In Parts 13, we formulated a novel approach to thermodynamics of one- and two-component heterogeneous systems completely or partially filled with a liquid substance in a plasma state. The approach is based on the use of the Gibbs variational principles and it enables efforts to address a variety of problems relating to equilibrium and stability of such systems. In this fourth part, the results of the Parts 13 are applied to the analysis of equilibrium configurations of a one-component charged gas trapped between two parallel plates the geometry often used in various applications.
