Abstract:

This short report provides a worked example of the approach to the assessment and evaluation of U.S. Department of Defense DoD efforts to inform, influence, and persuade as detailed in Assessing and Evaluating Department of Defense Efforts to Inform, Influence, and Persuade Desk Reference and Assessing and Evaluating Department of Defense Efforts to Inform, Influence, and Persuade Handbook for Practitioners. Both volumes were developed as part of the project Laying the Foundation for the Assessment of Inform, Influence, and Persuade Efforts, which sought to identify and recommend selected best practices in assessment and evaluation drawn from existing practice in DoD, academic evaluation research, public relations, public diplomacy, and public communication, including social marketing. As a companion to the handbook and desk reference, this report provides a concrete practical example of the planning and application of assessment and evaluation practices and principles in a realistic but fictional scenario context.
