In the United States, the prevalence of prediabetes has steadily increased to an estimated current prevalence of 38 in the general population. 1 The military readiness mission is threatened by the prevalence of overweight BMI 25.0 to 30.0 and obese BMI 30.0 active duty service members, increased from 50.6 in 1995 to 60.8 in 2008. 2 Being overweight or obese is a significant risk factor for prediabetes. 3 The current prevalence of prediabetes in active duty service members is unknown.
