The purpose of the Battle of Leipzigs game design is to simulate a tactical combat scenario that employs the implementation of the warfighting functions to facilitate learning. The U.S. Armys Mission Command Training Program Key Observations publication specified valid concerns of multiple challenges that army staffs have with implementing and integrating the warfighting functions in a near-peer fight. The game design system simplifies the understanding of the warfighting functions through the historical context of the Battle of Leipzig. The end objective is a tactical wargame that simulates warfighting functions in a decision-making environment in an effort to facilitate tactical knowledge and skill development through conceptual learning.
