This report identifies the timeline, major challenges and recommended actions to ensure successful deployment of the first micro-reactor at a DoD domestic installation. The deployment scenario modeled in this report is consistent with language in the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act. This includes the DoD contracting through a power purchase agreement with a commercial entity to site, construct and operate a micro-reactor located on DoD property that is licensed and regulated by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC. The roadmap is not based upon the deployment for forward operating bases. Deployment of the first micro-reactor is expected to take 7 years, but could take as few as 5 years or as many as 10 years, depending on the ability to address deployment challenges identified in the report, as well as the readiness of the technology, of which an assessment is outside the scope of this report.
