Create one-component nanocomposites OCNs based on polymer-grafted cellulose nanocrystals and investigate their properties, Specifically Develop robust chemistries and procedures for the synthesis of Hairy NanoRods HNRs based on CNCs Demonstrate that homopolymer-CNC based OCNs can overcome the limitations of conventional CNC nanocomposites aggregation, embrittlementInvestigate structure-property relationship of polymer-functionalized OCNs. Demonstrate structure-specific functions such as shape-memory behavior, toughening, selective transport, healing, adhesion.
