Abstract:

tRNA derived fragments, tRFs are a novel class of small RNA which are shown to function by associating to Argonaute proteins. Unlike microRNA, the biogenesis of tRFs is independent of Dicer and Drosha enzymes. Upon meta-analysis of more than 50 small RNA-seq data of different species and cell lines we have previously shown the presence of fragments generated from both 5 and 3 end of the tRNA and called them as tRF-5 and tRF-3, respectively. We are now interested in mining TCGA prostate cancer patients data to identify tRFs and predict potential targets involved in prostate cancer cell migration and proliferation.
