Abstract:

Perfluoroalkyl substances PFAS are a class of synthetic chemicals frequently used for their non-stick properties. They have been used extensively by the Air Force and commercial aviation industries in aqueous film-forming foam AFFF for fighting fires involving flammable liquids.
